  • Client assessment techniques and orthopaedic profiling and modifications for structural anomalies;

FMA Strength Training Level 1

Two-day course

The first workshop in this two-part series will introduce attendees to Mark’s effective, tried and proven methods in strength and conditioning training. During the workshop, attendees will:

  • Learn how to train big lifts and become a technique expert;
  • Learn how to assess the client for structural anomalies and how to modify lift and technique selection based on these findings;
  • Learn how to assess the client for the orthopaedic profile needed to achieve each of the big lifts;
  • Learn how to mobilise restricted joints, working on the gym floor, to prevent injury and get the client lifting in minimal time;
  • Learn practical programme design for novice to intermediate lifters and how to rate performance outcomes based on male and female strength standards.

FMA Strength Training Level 2

Two-day course

The second part in Mark Buckley’s FMA series continues to look at strength training techniques and covers traditional and non-traditional lifts to teach attendees the science behind the exercises which will develop muscle strength.

  • Examine what top lifters know about strength training that is often overlooked by exercise professionals, such as how to modify lifting techniques for heavier weights;
  • Learn how top lifters apply the three methods of strength training to gain strength and muscle, plus we’ll learn the max, dynamic and repeated effort
  • methods;
  • Learn how top lifters use accommodating resistance to overcome the limitations of the strength curve;
  • Learn about chains, bands (load/de-load) and weight releasers;
  • Learn how top lifters prevent accommodation through the use of special lifts and speciality bars including the safety squat bar, cambered squat bar and the trap/hex bar;
  • Learn how top lifters use the Tendo Unit to quantify external bar speed and monitor strength/speed relationships in training;
  • Examine Strength-Speed Training vs. Speed-Strength Training methods.
